PERFORMS TEAM x ECR 2026 Vienna

            .

The PERFORMS team was proud to participate in European Congress of Radiology 2026 in Vienna, one of the world’s leading radiology congresses, bringing together thousands of experts from across academia, healthcare, and industry. We were delighted to be invited to contribute to key discussions on artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare at such a prestigious international forum.

One of this year’s congress highlights was the growing importance of AI as these systems move into a real-world clinical deployment. Our work focused on monitoring AI performance, ensuring patient safety, and strengthening evaluation frameworks in clinical settings.

The session brought together international experts including Dr Christoph Wald. Prof Susan Shelmerdine, Dr Andrea Rockall, Laura Brink, Dr. Julia Moosbauer and William Mayo-Smith.  The strong engagement and discussion throughout reflected the global momentum and success of this year’s congress.

Research presentations and impact

Our team presented a range of research exploring the role of AI in breast cancer screening:

  1. Is Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT)-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) Better than 2D Mammography-based AI?

  2. AI performance on an interval cancer mammography dataset and its role in audit triage

  3. Comparing the Performance of Top Ranked AI Models from the RSNA 2023 Screening Mammography Breast Cancer Detection AI Challenge to Commercial AI Models

  4. Poster: Evaluating the impact of AI assistance on breast ultrasound interpretation in a prospective paired reader study

Together, these studies strengthen the evidence base for benchmarking and clinical integration of AI tools. They contribute to improving early breast cancer detection and support the safe adoption of AI in clinical practice. Lastly, these discussions highlight the increasing need for robust governance as AI adoption accelerates.

We welcome collaboration with researchers and partners interested in advancing AI in healthcare.
