As anticipation builds for the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2025, the PERFORMS research team are getting ready to showcase the latest research and developments in radiology and artificial intelligence (AI).
PERFORMS will present a series of key studies that highlight the integration of AI in diagnostic imaging, as well as its impact on radiologists’ performance and decision-making:
• Evaluation of a Digital Breast Tomosynthesis AI Algorithm – Discover the potential of AI in breast cancer detection through a study evaluating the performance of a Digital Breast Tomosynthesis AI model using the Personal Performance in Mammographic Screening (PERFORMS) scheme. This research compares the AI model’s performance against a large cohort of breast imaging readers. RPS 705 Artificial Intelligence in Breast Imaging: 27-02-2025, 08:00-09:30
• Exploring AI’s Influence on Human Gaze Behaviour during Mammography Reading – This study delves into how AI prompts affect the visual search patterns of human readers when interpreting mammograms, offering fresh insights into the interaction between AI and human decision-making processes. RPS 1705 Human and Machine Factors in AI: 01-03-2025, 08:00-09:00
• Breast Imaging Reader Performance in the PERFORMS Test-set Assessment Scheme – A scientific poster presentation will assess the diagnostic performance variability among readers in the MyPeBS international clinical trial, examining the impact of AI and human factors on screening accuracy.
• External Quality Assurance of Radiologists in the NHS Lung Cancer Screening Programme – This poster will explore the essential role of external quality assurance in ensuring high diagnostic standards for lung cancer screening in the NHS, improving the accuracy of radiologists’ readings.
ECR 2025 promises to be a pivotal moment for radiology, offering a deep dive into the evolving role of AI in diagnostics. The #PERFORMS sessions will provide cutting-edge insights into how AI is shaping the future of breast and lung cancer screening.
Mark your calendars and get ready to be part of the future of radiology at ECR 2025!
