Award-Winning Poster Recognised at Symposium Mammographicum 2025

Bournemouth, UK – A research team led by the PERFORMS team in conjunction with the University of Nottingham has been awarded the prestigious Best Poster prize at this year’s Symposium Mammographicum, held in Bournemouth. The biannual conference brought together leading experts in breast imaging and radiology for several days of discussion around the future of screening and sustainable imaging practices.

The winning poster entitled “Evaluating a DBT AI Algorithm using PERFORMS”, presented by George Partridge and co-authored by J. James, P. Phillips, K. Satchithananda, N. Sharma, W. Teh, A. Valencia, E. Muscat, J. Morel, F. Majid, C. Taylor, M. Michell, and Y. Chen, was recognised for its contribution to advancing knowledge in breast screening. The work was supported by the PROSPECTS research group utilising data from the DBT PERFORMS scheme, with participation from a wide network of clinical readers.

The key finding of the study was that AI on 3D performed equivalently to human performance on those cases.

Key themes at the 2025 symposium included personalised and risk-based screening as well as sustainable radiology practices, highlighting the direction of innovation and policy in mammographic imaging.

Symposium Mammographicum remains a cornerstone event for breast imaging professionals across the UK and beyond, showcasing cutting-edge research and fostering collaboration across disciplines.
